2018 Ladies and Men 60+ start

The NI Civil Service Athletics Club is once again hosting the cross country event at Stormont on Saturday 8th February 2020. Open to runners of all ages and abilities the event has become a major feature on the NI Athletics calendar and this is part of the Athletics NI Cross Country League.

SCHEDULE OF RACES & ENTRY FEES

1. 11.00 am Primary School Age Boys 1,000m No charge

2. 11.20 am Primary School Age Girls 1,000m No charge

3. 11.40 am Junior Boys & Girls U13 2,000m £2

4. 12 noon Junior Boys & Girls U15/U17 3,000m £2

5. 12.20 pm Women U20/Open/Vets & Male V60+ 3.3 miles £7 (£9 for unregistered)

6. 1.10 pm Men U20 / Open / Vets 4.4 miles £7 (£9 for unregistered)

Registration

Registration on the day commences in the Pavilion from 09:30am (£1 surcharge for on the day entries for Men’s and Women’s Open and Vets races). Racing begins with the Primary School Races at 11:00am and concludes with the Men’s senior race at 01:10pm. The registration hall is the McIlhinney Suite in the Pavilion. Follow the signs in the building.

Getting to the Start

The course is entirely on the west side of the Prince of Wales Avenue in the estate. This means that the start for all races is 15 mins walk from the registration hall. Please ensure you leave sufficient time to get to the start.

PRIZES

Prize List

Prizes for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male and Female in all races will be will be presented at the Finish line as soon as possible after each race.

The prize for the 1st Male over 60 in Race 5(3.3miles) will also be awarded at the finish line.

All other individual and team prizes will be delivered to the prize winners after the event.

Parking.

Traffic for the Cross Country should enter the Stormont Estate via the Newtownards Road entrance to the Pavilion car park. This will give access to the additional parking spaces at Castle Buildings car park. When exiting the Estate all traffic is advised to drive up the hill past Parliament Buildings and leave via the Massey Avenue gate. This will be easier than trying to exit via Newtownards Road as it is often very congested. See map for details.

Men’s and Women’s Team Competitions

There will be Team prizes in the men’s and women’s races. Male Vets 60+ can compete in the Women’s race however please note that men running in this race will not be eligible for the team prizes.

Boys and Girls Team Competition across the Junior categories.

A competition where the first three runners across ALL of the Junior categories from a particular school, club or organisation can win a team prize. There will be individual trophies for boys and girls teams.

Primary School Age Team Competitions

A competition for teams of primary school age children, boys and girls in P6 & P7, to compete for the team trophy. Teams from primary Schools, Clubs and other Organisations are eligible to compete for the separate Boys & Girls trophies. Please note that these team prizes will not be awarded on the day. The result for the team prizes will be published after the event at www.nics-ac.com and the winning school / club organisation will be notified and the trophy delivered as soon as possible.

Team Competition Entry and Rules

The first three finishers from each team count with the winners being the team with the lowest combined score in their race category (based on finishing position).

Juniors simply enter as normal indicating the school/organisation/club they wish to represent. The first three finishers will count and their combined placings will determine the winning team i.e. the team with the lowest score.

NICSAC Internal Championships

The NICS Athletics Club internal cross country championship will take place within the Male and Female Open/Vets races and there will be separate prizes for NICSAC members taking part in the races. Prizes awarded at NICSAC Awards dinner later in the year.

Post Race Refreshments

Unfortunately, due to the conditions for our use of the Pavilion Sports Complex for the Cross Country, NICSAC is not permitted to provide our own refreshments or catering for runners following the Cross Country event as all refreshments must be provided by the Pavilion’s caterers. However, athletes will be able to purchase refreshments on the day provided by the Pavilion’s caterers. NICSAC will not benefit from the sale of the refreshments.
